SLOVCA was a partner of the second year of the private equity and venture capital conference 0100 Conferences on 20th June 2018 in Bratislava. We are glad for this forum happening just weeks prior the summer to wrap up how successful the first half of the year from the PE/VC industry perspective was.

We are happy that as in year 2017, also this year was the conference opened by a SLOVCA representative, namely our chairperson of the board Ján Kutan. We are more than happy to be able to support the organizers of the conference, we see it as a important networking forum where not only investment professionals meet but also founders, limited partners and advisors.

The LP Perspective panel moderated by Andrej Petrus of SLOVCA, besides other topics, granted us an opportunity to sum up the results of JEREMIE Initiative in Slovakia. From the data presented by Matej Říha of SZRF, 105m EUR invested through JEREMIE programme in Slovakia (support programme for SMEs of EC, EIB and EIF) generated 330m EUR of overall financial support for SMEs (debt and equity). This leverage effect together with creation of some promising Slovak start-ups financed through venture capital funds supported by JEREMIE and private investors is clearly a positive result of this programme. Nevertheless, venture capital and private equity in CEE Region still lacks interest of local institutional investors when compared to the US situation or even the situation in Western Europe.

This year, the conference was divided in 5 different panels.

1.Buyouts – this panel was represented by Martin Chocholáček (Vice President @ Enterprise Investors and member of the Board of Directors of SLOVCA), next to Bill Fawkner-Corbett of CEE Equity, Leszek Muzyczyszyn of Innova capital and Michal Rybovic of Sandberg Capital and Dagmar Yoder of Deloitte as the moderator

2. Women in Private Equity with Emilia Mamajová of ESPIRA Investments and Małgorzata Bobrowska-Jarząbek of Resource Partners

3. LP Perspective moderated by Andrej Petrus, project manager of SLOVCA, with representatives of EIF (Patrik Gresko), Slovak guarantee and development fund SZRF (Matej Říha) and Hungarian development bank MFB Invest (Gabor Lehoczki)

4. Venture capital represented by Christian Mandl (Managing Partner at Neulogy Ventures, member of SLOVCA), Peter Irikovsky (CEO of Exponea and Partner at LRJ Capital) and Michael Schuster (Partner at Speedinvest)

5.Exits in CEE SLOVCA members Michal Aron of ARX Equity and Ondrej Vičar of Genesis Capital together with Piotr Miller of Avallon and Wojciech Goc of Argan Capital Partners summed up the private equity activity with more focus on the exits in the CEE Region
