Members & Membership
Membership Criteria
Membership in the SLOVCA is at the discretion of the Board of Directors of SLOVCA and General meeting of SLOVCA. In considering application, the General Meeting will generally apply the following criteria.
1. General Criteria
The member must:
- have an active interest in venture capital
- be of good standing in the venture capital community
- agree to abide by the SLOVCA Code of Conduct
- have been proposed and seconded by three full members of the Association.
2. Full Membership
The member must:
- have, as its principal business, the provision of equity to unquoted (non-publicly traded) companies and make its returns through medium to long term capital gain. These activities may include any seed, venture, development, PE or mezzanine capital investment which includes an "equity type" return
- have management including experienced venture capitalists engaged full-time in venture capital activities
- take an active role in helping to build and develop the companies in which it invests.
3. Associate Membership
The member must have:
- a number of staff with experience in working in the venture capital industry field; and/or in development of SME's
- an active involvement in venture capital and/or development of SME's.
Associate members are divided into three categories:
- Financial Organizations
- Professional Advisers
- Academic Organizations.
